Texas Impact – Our Partner in State Public Polic

Texas Impact is designated by the ELCA as the State Public Policy Office (SPPO) for ELCA Lutherans in Texas.

There are 17 SPPOs serving ELCA Lutherans across the country, advancing the work of ELCA Advocacy and its partners at the state level. Texas Impact is your resource for faith-based advocacy, public policy updates, and action opportunities here in our state.

Find out more about the ELCA’s State Public Policy Office network and see a map of SPPOs by state here.

As Texas’ SPPO, we provide resources, information, and advocacy tools to all people of faith and conscience, equipping individuals and congregations to engage in meaningful public witness rooted in our shared values.

You likely already receive our newsletter, but we want to ensure that you are also getting updates specifically relevant to ELCA Lutherans in Texas. One such important issue is the recent misinformation campaign targeting Lutheran Social Services (LSS) and Global Refuge (previously Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service).

We have written an article to correct the record and provide clarity on the invaluable work LSS and Global Refuge do in service to refugees, families, and communities in need. The article includes a video response released by ELCA Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton earlier this week.

You can read the article here: Lutherans Maligned: Setting the Record Straight

If you have any questions or would like to confirm you’re on our ELCA-specific mailing list, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Thank you for your continued commitment to living out our faith through action and advocacy.

Love,
